Profile: Here's a little information about me...

Greetings!
This is your opportunity to meet the Chef. I am good at a lot of things. By necessity or just plain stubbornness, I am what you might call a “do-it-yourselfer”. I can replace faucets, fix toilets, build decks, lay brick and ceramic tile, electrical repairs, upholster furniture, decorate cakes, arrange flowers and draft and design an addition to my house...but, my passions, there are but two, my children and cooking.
Hence, Caryll Cook’s Tonight. I’ve been in the kitchen, puttering around since I was a pre-teen. My Mom, a good cook in her own right, had to return to work. My Grandmother C., now she was a GREAT cook, so for me, this is pretty much genetic good fortune. For many years, friends and family urged me to move into a professional venue, but responsibility to paying the bills and raising my three children kept me in the more traditional but related field of hospitality. In the early 90’s, I attended Atlantic Community College, earned my Hospitality Management and Sanitation certifications. I have spent many wonderful years in hotel operations, then to Catering and Group Rooms, to Sales and Marketing and finally, in 2000, attained my CMP (Certified Meeting Planner).
I’ve worked in hospitality for over 25 years, but sustained my passion for cooking by preparing meals and parties for friends, family and co-workers. I’ve filed away, swapped and created hundred’s of recipes and special dishes. If it’s new, if it’s exciting or unusual, I will try.
Now is the time! My other passion, my kids, are grown and on their own. My son, the Art Director is in California, my first daughter, a Special Education teacher is married to a great guy, a web developer (thank you A for your help) and they together, have given me my lovely first granddaughter. Finally, my ever artistic and talented youngest is on her way to finding her way through the world. Hobbies abound, skiing, biking, gardening, needlework and constant pursuit of Rococco Revival antiques, but your kitchen is where I want to be.
Look forward to being invited...
Caryll
